Not too late

Ok - so I haven't kept up with blogging on a more consistent basis - but for real - that is going to change this year! There is so much great stuff going on with Lens in '08:

Beehatch - The debut Beehatch CD will be out in April and it's fantastic. I've been in conversation with Mark Spybey for a while now about releasing something with him and this one just sort of fell into my lap. Mark and Phil Western have put together this music in a fairly rapid pace and when the juices are flowing you go with it. Mark contacted me and felt that Lens would be the best home for this release and I'm glad he did! The artwork features original images from Mark and the mastering is being wrapped up right now by Frankie Pett. This ones going to be huge!

Sky Burial - Mr Michael Page contacted me back in 2006 - I believe - wanting to put out a release. And unfortunately at the time I wasn't prepared to do so. But we've been working on a release for '08 that will feature a combination of work from Sky Burial - it will feature his first demo tracks (that never received a formal release), a few tracks from several of his excellent previous releases and some new work. There might even be a track from Mark Spybey on there too. We are shooting for a Summer release and I'm excited to be working with Mike - the Sky Burial stuff really resonates for me and I'm honored to give it a bigger profile through Lens.

Emulsion - the 'Blue Sky Remixes' will be coming your way probably in the Summer of '08 as well. I've been working with Nathan Koch for years now and it's always a pleasure to be involved with his music. His sound has grown/changed/evolved/morphed over the years and I look forward to bringing the next wave of that to you all in '08.

Robert Scott Thompson - Well, I've been a friend of RST's since 1989/90 when he came on board as an instructor at Georgia State University and we quickly became friends. He exposed me to a lot of great music and ideas and we've worked on music a bit over the years as well. But it is FAR overdue for Lens to bring you an official release from RST - so we're going to bring you 'Poesis Athesis' in the Spring of '08. It's a compilation of a vast amount of soundtrack work that RST has done and it is quite sublime. I've always been a fan of Robert's music - especially his ambient music - and 'Poesis Athesis' will be a great addition to his catalog and the Lens catalog. RST and I are also working on a collaboration project for late in '08 - more info as it comes together. Robert is also busy putting the finishing touches on his new website - http://www.robertscottthompson.com/ - which should be launching in the next few weeks.

Miss Autopsy - This is a perfect example of an artist who got in touch with me wanting Lens to release their music. Steve contacted me a while ago with a copy of his new album 'The Hill' already recorded and ready to go. I notoriously busy and preoccupied with other things so it took some reminding and prodding to get me to listen to it and once I did I loved it! It feels kin to Reptilica to my limited ears - but at the same time completely different. Either way - Miss Autopsy truly has it's own voice and sound and it's one that I hope a lot of people enjoy. Look for this in the Summer of '08 as well - we're finishing up artwork and planning our attack now.

Best,
Rob
